The Nagaland Police today announced on a post on social media that Baharudin, a narcotics drug trafficking kingpin of the north-east from Sonitpur, Assam has been arrested.
“In continuation of the Nagaland Government’s War Against Drugs, a major successful operation spanning over many months, Nagaland Police, in close coordination with the Assam Police have arrested Baharudin, a narcotics drug trafficking kingpin of the north-east from Sonitpur, Assam. Two other associates have also been arrested, one from Dimapur and one from Imphal,” informed the Nagaland Police.
Baharudin is wanted in multiple known cases registered across the region and has reportedly been running a major drug network spread over many states, and involved in financing, procuring transportation and sale of sunflower, ganja and other dangerous drugs.
“Baharudin had been using multiple aliases, multiple identities, multiple phone numbers and numerous hideouts to carry on the trafficking in narcotics and numerous people have been associated with him in the conspiracies to traffic banned substances like ganja, brown sugar etc in the region. He has tried to evade the law enforcement agencies for many years,” stated the post.

With drug traffickers creating havoc in families across the state where a large number of youth are falling victims to drug abuse, the Nagaland Police has requested citizens to continue to report drug sellers and traffickers to Police and also desist from providing support of any kind to these elements spreading toxin in the society.
“The strict provisions of NDPS Act provide for forfeiture of properties acquired from the profits of drug trade; anyone purchasing such property from drug dealers are cautioned they must apply due diligence as these properties are fit to be forfeited in due course of time,” stated the post.
The Nagaland Police expressed appreciation to the DGPs of Assam and Manipur, the Assam Police and the Manipur Police for the assistance rendered.
“Details are being withheld for operational reasons. Further updates will follow in due course,” informed the Nagaland Police.
