NPCC President, S Supongmeren Jamir today called for the need of co-ordination among the job providers and job seekers in Nagaland following Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee’s State wide touring.

Addressing media persons on Friday Jamir shared insights on their state wide tour emphasizing that there were more than 78,000 unemployed youths registered under the Department of Employment. Jamir further maintained that there would be even more unregistered unemployed.

Witnessing the ground reality, Jamir stated that “the NPCC Public Grievances Department is marching ahead with the grievances and basic needs of the people in the State.”

The NPCC President suggested the Employment Exchange Department should collaborate and linkup with the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) and Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB), network and assess the category in which the educated unemployed can be provided jobs with proper groundwork study.

“There is a gap between the job seekers and the employment exchange office. Apart from NSSB and NPSC exams, the employment exchange office has not provided any sort of advertisements in regards to the offers from different companies for the youths to avail. Between 2021-2022, there were nil opportunities when it came to availing such offers,” stated Supongmeren Jamir who recommended the employment exchange office to come up with innovative opportunities and bridge the gap.

For the many aspirants who get qualified for NSSB and NPSC exams but are not selected during interviews, Jamir suggested, “The Government should come with some incentives or avenues for the candidates as it is difficult for the young ones to start afresh.” Jamir further stressed that if the trend continues without any avenues, the State will produce a lot of frustrated unemployed youths where it will be difficult for the society and the government to provide help.

Taking the example of Arunachal Pradesh, where the Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday assured that the three Wushu players of the State, who could not participate in the Asian Games at Hangzou in China, would be treated as participants of the Indian Wushu team and given ₹20 lakh incentive as per the State’s sports policy, Jamir shared that such boost is also needed for the State representatives in Nagaland.

“The State government should come forward and reformulate the policies so that the State will be in a position to compete with the other States,” said Jamir.

Further, Supongmeren Jamir also acknowledged the contributions made by the 15th Nagaland Armed Police -NAP- (IR) band who were brimming with immense talent at the worldwide ‘India’s Got Talent,’ competition and encouraged them to bring laurels to the State of Nagaland.
