The road connection between Huker to Chessor is a vital artery that sustains the lives of

thousands of people. Although this road serves as a crucial link to reach important towns including Chessor, Shamator, Noklak, Kohima, Dimapur, Zunheboto, Mokokchung and Wokha, the road has been neglected by authorities for too long that the condition has become deplorable, causing immense hardship to commuters.

Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, Samuel Avito, a pastor at Chessor town who regularly commutes the mentioned road, said the deplorable state of the road with potholes and uneven surfaces due to lack of maintenance has made travel a daunting task.

“The residents of our region have been voicing their concerns and pleading for road improvement but their cries have fallen on deaf ears… It is high time that the government

and concerned authorities take cognizance of this crucial issue and allocate the

necessary resources to repair and maintain our road,” the church leader said.

He underscored that the road is a vital part of the daily life of citizens’ – economic growth, social connectivity, enabling efficient transportation of essential goods, facilitating trade and tourism.

“It is not just a means of transportation, it is a lifeline that connects people with market, healthcare, education and other essential services,” pastor Avito said.

He expressed hope that the plea of the people of the rural area will be heard and the road will be given the attention it deserves.
