Neikhozo Suokhrie was today elected as the Chairperson of Kohima Municipal Council with Khrielevi Chusi as the Deputy Chairperson. Meanwhile, Khrielelie Kerhü-o was elected as the Chairperson of Chiephobozou Town Council and Kekhrieneinuo Zumvü as the Deputy Chairperson.

The election was held during the joint meeting of the High Power Committee for formation of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) under Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) along with the elected Councillors on July 8 at the NDPP Central Hqs, Kohima.

The High Power Committee for formation of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) under Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) comprised of the Legislator in-Charge  Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister Women Resources Development & Horticulture, Dr.Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor School Education & SCERT, Theyiekielie Tachu Vice President CEB, and Prasielie Pienyu President NDPP Kohima Region.

The meeting minutes informed that the HPC members addressed the house highlighting the functions and provisions of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) following the election of the Chairperson and Deputy Chairman in consensus with the house.

The total number of NDPP Councillors elect for Kohima Municipal Council is 13 while Chiephobozou Town Council comprises of nine NDPP Councillors elect.
