Kohima: State Government have written to Centre conveying concerns on FMR, says CM

Nagaland Chief Minister and Leader of the House Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday pointed out that the house have always given sufficient time for discussion on Naga Political Issue in every session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, highlighting its concerns on it and even passing Assembly Resolutions to press for an early and peaceful resolution of the Naga Political Issue.

Stating this while delivering the concluding remarks on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address, Neiphiu Rio exuded hope that the collective efforts would bear good results, and we would be able to witness the final and peaceful resolution of the Naga political issue during the tenure of this House.

Mention maybe made that most of the speakers in the discussion have dwelt on the urgent necessity of bringing about a peaceful atmosphere in Nagaland; and taking Naga political issue to its logical and peaceful conclusion, in the spirit of give and take.

On matters pertaining to Free Movement Regime (FMR), the Leader of the House remarked it as a serious matter for our people, especially those staying in the bordering areas.

He assures that “we are alive to the situation” and the State Government have written to the Central Government conveying their concerns and requesting for continuing the FMR.

“Further, we have sought for coming up with FMR regulations in close consultations with us, the affected people in the border areas, so that we are able to suitably take concerns of everyone and ensure an arrangement of FMR which benefits all,” said Neiphiu Rio.
