The North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) celebrated its 8th Graduation Day on October 13, at the Peace Centre in Chümoukedima, informed a DIPR report. The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Nagaland Governor La Ganesan as the Chief Guest, Nosazol Charles, State Information Commissioner as the Guest of Honour, and Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese and Chairman of NEISSR, as the Special Guest.
NEISSR, managed by the Bishop of Kohima Diocese under the motto “Excel in knowledge & Service,” is affiliated with Nagaland University. A total of 32 students from the batch of 2021-2023 graduated during this event. Several awards were presented to outstanding students:
The Best Student Award was awarded to John Kath. Zhovino Kichu received the Excellent Academic Performance Award 2023 while Sushoka Assumi received the Best Researches Award 2023. The Best Student in Field Practicum 2023 was awarded to Imkongtula.
During his address, La Ganesan expressed his honor in attending the 8th Graduation Day, emphasizing that it is a significant milestone not only in the educational journey but in life itself. He commended NEISSR for molding young minds, equipping them with knowledge, fostering creativity, and helping them become responsible global citizens. He offered heartfelt congratulations to all for this commendable achievement.
Ganesan encouraged the graduating students to be responsible, compassionate, and make the world a better place as they enter a new chapter in life. He underlined the paramount importance of social work in addressing complex societal challenges, advocating for social justice, and assisting marginalized populations. The Governor also highlighted the role of educational institutions in preparing future leaders, emphasizing the need to teach students forward-thinking, decision-making, peace-building, and effective communication skills.
The Chief Guest acknowledged NEISSR for its unique approach, integrating youth leadership development into peace building as part of the social work program. He also acknowledged the Peace Channel-NEISSR for promoting inter-faith culture and harmony in Dimapur.

In conclusion, La Ganesan encouraged the graduates to return home to Nagaland and contribute to the state’s development. He congratulated and wished them success in their future endeavors.
Guest of Honour, Nosazol Charles, thanked NEISSR for providing quality education to students and encouraged the graduates to create a positive impact on individuals and communities. He reminded them to set goals, be truthful, and show kindness towards others. Charles emphasized that the world can be unpredictable, and one must play their cards well to overcome life’s challenges.
The event featured various presentations, addresses, and messages, including the lighting of a graduation candle, a journey presentation of NEISSR, and a message from Chairman Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, among others.
