“As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world,
none of us can truly rest.” – Nelson Mandela
The United Nations marked the 18th of July annually on November 2009 to commemorate ‘Nelson Mandela International Day.’ This year, the day is observed under the theme, ‘Combatting Poverty and Inequality is in Our Hands.’
The UN urges to celebrate this day by making a difference in one’s communities. “Everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better! Mandela Day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change,” stated the UN.
