Government of India celebrated Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam, celebration of the 5th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 today by formally dedicating PM SHRI schools and laying the foundation stones for hostels under the
Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), marking a dual milestone in education and tribal welfare.
In Nagaland 10 PM SHRI Schools were dedicated and foundation stones for 23 hostels in Nagaland were laid virtually.
Selected from among 49 government schools in Nagaland, 10 PM SHRI institutions, one representing each district, were recognized as model schools for their implementation of NEP 2020 standards. The schools are PM SHRI GHSS Chumoukedima, PM SHRI GHSS
Kiphire, PM SHRI GHS Kiruphema, PM SHRI Mayangnokcha GHSS, PM SHRI GMS Mon
Town A, PM SHRI GHS DC Colony Peren Town, PM SHRI GHS Phusachodu, PM SHRI GHSS Thangjam, PM SHRI GHS, Wokha Village and PM SHRI GHS Nyengching.
These schools, part of the nation’s 14,500school PM SHRI initiative, will serve as centers of excellence with enhanced infrastructure and curricula reflecting NEP’s focus on access, quality, equity, and inclusion.
The schools were officially dedicated to the nation by Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, in a virtual ceremony held from Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi during the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam. The event streamed live and was attended by students, teaching faculty, district administration officials, MLAs, community members, and parents from across Nagaland.

Meanwhile, in alignment with India’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), launched nationally on October 2, 2024, focuses on the holistic upliftment of tribal communities through coordinated delivery of services in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and livelihoods.

DAJGUA is projected to benefit over 5 crore tribal individuals across 63,843 villages in 30 states, via 25 targeted interventions executed by 17 central ministries.
As part of the education intervention under this scheme, 1,000 new hostels are planned nationwide through the Samagra Shiksha framework under the Ministry of Education.
In Nagaland, 23 hostel foundation stones were laid virtually by Union Minister of
Education, Dharmendra Pradhan and addressed the ceremony remotely from Delhi. The event in Kohima was graced by Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education & SCERT,
Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT and officials from DoSE, Samagra Shiksha, SCERT, and NBSE, onsite at TM GHSS, Kohima.
