New IPR office building inaugurated at Tseminyu

The newly constructed IPR Office Building at Tseminyu was inaugurated on February 23 by Orenthung Lotha, IAS Commissioner & Secretary, Information & Public Relations and Cooperation, Government of Nagaland, who graced the occasion as the Special Guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Special Guest described Tseminyu as one of the unique and vibrant districts fortunate to receive such infrastructure. Describing the new establishment as one of the best departmental offices in the districts, Lotha encouraged the people to make optimal use of the facility. He expressed gratitude to former Advisor IPR Late Imkong L Imchen, and Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio for the building project.

Highlighting the importance of the upcoming census, Lotha appealed for accurate and truthful information, stating that census data forms the foundation of policy-making and development planning. He cautioned that incorrect data could deprive the general population of rightful benefits.

He further underscored the department’s role in providing responsive, accurate, and well-verified information to both the public and the media. In the era of social media, he noted, information spreads rapidly, making it essential for the government to communicate verified and constructive information through print, electronic, and digital platforms for the benefit of society.

The Commissioner & Secretary also informed that the government is planning to establish the Nagaland Integrated Information System, under which Tseminyu will function as one of the information hubs. The system will collect data from various departments under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner and the district administration, ensuring accessibility of accurate information to the public.

On the occasion, Japhet Woch, NCS Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for the timely completion of the project. Referring to the formation of the district, he stated that several infrastructure projects had been initiated, including the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, SP Office, staff quarters, and other establishments.

He noted that the newly inaugurated IPR Office building was completed in record time, attributing the achievement to the dedication of the contractors and the timely release of funds by the department.

Urging all departments and staff to think and act as a full-fledged district, the Deputy Commissioner called for proactive functioning, generation of accurate data, and meaningful engagement to ensure effective governance. Highlighting the role of data in policy-making, he cautioned against misinformation, especially in the age of social media, and emphasized that all departments must ensure that information shared is accurate, truthful, and based on facts.

Atuzo Peseyie, District Public Relations Officer, Kohima, who chaired the programme, expressed gratitude for the proactive initiatives taken by Dzüvinuo Theünuo, Director, Information & Public Relations, and Orenthung Lotha, Commissioner & Secretary, IPR & Cooperation, in ensuring that the needs and requirements of district offices are effectively addressed.

Earlier in the programme, Assistant Director, IPR, Meghasha Tep presented the District Profile of the Tseminyu IPR Office. Pastor of Tseminyu Town Baptist Church, Yhunthonglo Khing, offered the dedicatory prayer, while Yhunbwenle Tep presented a special song.

Director Dzüvinuo Theünuo, senior officers from the Department of Information & Public Relations, ADC Tseminyu Mhomo Tungoe, IPR staff from Tseminyu and the Directorate, contractors of the building, and other guests were present during the programme.
