New Model College, Mangkolemba commits to Eco Friendly Practices; Building A Greener Future

The students of New Model College, Mangkolemba, have taken a significant step towards environmental sustainability by pledging to adopt eco-friendly habits on World Environment Day 2024. The college community came together for a mass social work and plantation drive, under the theme “Go Green: Embracing a Sustainable Campus” informed DIPR.

Dr. Benjongkumba, Principal, emphasised the importance of waste segregation, educating students on effective techniques for segregating and recycling waste to preserve natural resources and support a healthier planet. Dr. L.J. Neken Jamir, Vice Principal urged the students to embrace energy-efficient practices in their daily lives. Discussions on energy efficiency and waste segregation were also observed during the event.

In addition to academic pursuits, the college actively engages in social work, maintaining a nutrition garden where students and faculty cultivate local vegetables and fruits. This initiative aims to instil self-sufficiency in students and encourage them to replicate such practices at home.

Further, the college has launched its website, nmcmangkolemba.in, to provide essential information and updates about college activities.
