The New Wokha Village Gate, a key entry point activity under the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), was officially inaugurated on April 8, 2025. The event was graced by Chief Conservator of Forests (M & E), Dr. Senthil Kumar N, IFS, who led the inauguration ceremony.
The event was also attended by Zuthunglo Patton, IFS, Conservator of Forests, Southern Territorial Circle and Chairperson of the Project Steering Committee, NFMP, Suman W M Sivachar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Wokha Forest Division & Doyang Plantation Division, Ango Konyak, Deputy Conservator of Forests and Deputy Project Manager (Admin & Finance) for NFMP; and Range Forest Officer, in charge of Wokha Range Grace Kikon.
Later, a curriculum for the Chumpo Biodiversity Park was officially released by Chief Conservator of Forests (Monitoring & Evaluation), Kohima Dr. Senthil Kumar N, IFS, at Chukitong, Wokha District. The Chumpo Biodiversity Park is envisioned as a pioneering initiative that integrates biodiversity conservation with indigenous knowledge systems. According to the released curriculum, the park is designed to serve as a nature learning center.
Lansothung Lotha, RFO, I/C Doyang Beat, stated that the curriculum is designed with a vision to tie all the assets together in the Park and give the visitors a more meaningful and immersive experience.
Dr. Senthil Kumar N commended the vision behind the park and lauded the dedication and teamwork of the department. Acknowledging the limited time left to complete, he noted that significant work remains and wished the team success in completing it swiftly.
IFS Conservator of Forest, Zuthunglo Patton also expressed her admiration for the team’s vision and congratulated them for their efforts. Despite limited manpower, she praised the team for delivering quality work and staying committed to the project’s goals.
