The newly elected members of the nine wards of the Chozuba Town Council were administered the oath of affirmation at a ceremony held at the ADC office, Chozuba under Phek district on Saturday.

Speaking at the program, Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, congratulated all the elected members of the wards and called upon the councilors to work as responsible leaders for the upliftment of the town. He stated that as councilors, they are expected to carry out their duties with utmost sincerity and responsibility. The Advisors maintained that despite many hurdles, the state government was able to pass the new Municipal Act 2023 and successfully conduct the ULB election in the State after two decades, through the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Khamo urged the councilors to work as responsible leaders for the betterment of the people and society stating that there’s a huge expectation on them by the public. He also reminded them that leadership is a position not only of privileges but also of significant responsibility, while he pointed out that the Chozuba town has many challenges ahead. In this regard, he encouraged the councilors to work together as a team, along with the help of the administration and the MLA, to uplift the people and society.

Out of the nine wards, the four elected NDPP candidates, along with three independent candidates, staked their claim in the formation of the Chozuba Town Council (CTC) under the proposed Chairmanship of Sevonyi Keyho and Deputy-chairman of Vezota Rhakho.
