MP (Lok Sabha) S. Supongmeren Jamir attended the Northeast Frontier Railway meeting at Maligaon, Guwahati on October 14 along with all the other MPs of the Northeastern States. According to a press release issued by the NPCC, the key highlights of the meet was to discuss the various ongoing projects in the Northeast region.
The meeting deliberated on the ongoing railway projects in Nagaland where the Railway Board assured that the project at Molvom-Pherima which is 14.09 kms is expected to be commissioned by December 2026 while the Pherima-Zubza which is 36.79 kms is expected to be commissioned by December 2028.
The NFR also confirmed the upgradation of the Dimapur Railway Station and that the Master Plans and Design Basis report of RCC structure and steel structure has been approved which is expected to be completed byJune 30, 2028. However, the NFR apprised the MP of the setbacks involved in the upgradation works. They lamented on the encroachment issues inside the station premises which include shops, houses, dhabas, temples, etc. and requested the State Government’s intervention on the said issue for timely completion of the station.

The Railway Authority also assured the complete development works at Shokhuvi and Molvom station. It was also discussed that the passenger train for Tuli station under Mokokchung District and that the job for necessary works have been identified for commencement of passenger trains operations in the Amguri-Tuli section. The MP also made a request to consider the Dimapur-Tizit railway construction. Furthermore, he implored the Railway Authority to examine the foothill security railway route from Dimapur-via-Nuiland to Bhandari under Wokha District.
Finally, the MP insisted the NFR that the discontinued 6 AM Nagaland Express route from Dimapur to Guwahati should be re-introduced and also to introduce Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATUM) at Dimapur train station. He also urged the authority to henceforth advertise the Statewide Railway Employment through proper channels.
