In a landmark stride toward sustainable and efficient railway operations, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully launched the end-to-end electric traction run of the 12423/12424 Dibrugarh – New Delhi – Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express. With this development, one of the region’s premier trains now operates entirely on electric power, symbolizing a major advancement in Indian Railways’ goal of full electrification and carbon footprint reduction.

The seamless transition to full electric traction became possible after the completion of electrification works in the remaining segments of the NFR network, particularly on the Dibrugarh – Tinsukia – Lumding – Guwahati route. The shift is expected to enhance operational efficiency, reduce travel time, lower fuel costs, and contribute significantly to environmental sustainability.

The New Delhi – Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express began its electric traction journey on June 25, while the return leg, Dibrugarh – New Delhi, will commence under full electrification from June 27.
