Ngada Mini-Hornbill Festival 2022 was celebrated today at Ahgonshü (Tourist Facility Centre), Tesophenyu New NH-02, Tseminyu district.
R Khing, MLA & Advisor, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services & Women Resources Development was the chief host while Timikha Koza, President of Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation (TYO) was the special guest.
Speaking at the occasion, special guest Timikha Koza said the noble qualities of the Tenyimi – simplicity, trust worthiness and the way of life – must be preserved. He urged the people to continually extend support and help all people of the state who are in need.
“What is possible let us do,” he said.
He exhorted the people to live by truth as mentioned in Proverb: 23:23 and urged them to get hold of understanding, wisdom and discipline which the Lord has taught and blessed.

Koza further encouraged all to uphold and preserve the blessings and priceless noble qualities and the rich culture that has been handed down by the forefathers.
Highlighting the significance of Ngada festival, he reminded the community of the struggles and difficulties that the forefathers had gone through to achieve such great heights of celebrating a festival.
He also highlighted the contributions of the Rengma community towards the Naga National Movement and mentioned that two women of Sendenyu village who wove the first Naga National flag which was hosted on 14 August 1947 and is treasured as the most valuable treasure at the Hebron headquarter.
Furthermore, the president of TPO urged the Rengmas not to forget who supported, contributed and stood by them and urged the people to show similar support to the cause of changing the status of Meluri sub-division to Meluri election district.
Pochury is a brother of the Angami, Chakhesang, Zeliang and Rengma, and they need a joint effort to get what they deserve, he said.
Timikha Koza also called upon the people to urge the legislatures to join hands to consider and take up the matter before the state election is declared.

Earlier in the programme, the invocation was pronounced by Rev Haiwalo Apon, Executive Secretary Council of Rengma Baptist Churches (CRBC).

The group from Tesophenyu performed Ngada Procession, followed by cultural presentations by different groups and ranges – Tsogin Range, Kithagha group, Kasha Daho, Tseminyu Lojvü, Kandi Group and Phenshunyu Lojvü.
