The Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS issued an Order informing of the partial opening of the stretch of NH-29 near Dzüdza bridge under Sechü-Zubza. He, however, said that the road is not serviceable for small and medium vehicles and urged commuters to continue to take the alternative routes.
In the Order, the DC said that the stretch of the highway will remain closed to all kinds of traffic from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm with effect from 31st August 2024 to 2nd September 2024. However, partial opening of the highway for heavy vehicles will be allowed in between 7:00 pm to 6:00 am on the mentioned dates, for which, vehicles carrying essential commodities to be given priority. Heavy passenger vehicles like buses shall not be allowed till further orders, it was informed.
The DC has appealed to the general public for cooperation in the interest of safety and restoration of the NH-29.
Following the ultimatum received from the Nagaland Government to open the road by 29th August, the NHIDCL and the contractor partially cleared the road allowing unloaded trucks to pass.
