NHGSA holds 15th general session; elects new president, reaffirms principle of selfless service

The Nagaland Home Guards’ Service Association (NHGSA) held its 15th general session on September 9 at the Central Training Institute (CTI) Toluvi, Dimapur. The event was graced by Commandant General Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF Aotemsu as the special guest.

In his address, Aotemsu lauded the significant achievements accomplished by the NHGSA over the years. He encouraged all members to continue building on the association’s proud legacy- acknowledging both the triumphs and the hardships faced. He reiterated that the association serves as a crucial platform for every member’s concerns to be heard at decision-making levels.

In her presidential address, NHGSA president and Commandant CTI, Avinuo provided an insightful overview of the association’s history and journey. She reflected on how NHGSA was established in 2000 and came into formal existence in 2002, emphasizing a commitment to achieving professional excellence through a culture of dedication and discipline.

Avinuo also highlighted the continued efforts of the NHGSA toward uplifting its standards and enhancing its role in service to the community.

Following the formal programme, a business hour session was conducted, during which, NHGSA advisor and Deputy Commandant General, HG, CD & SDRF Medozhalie Pienyu posed thoughtful reflections, reminding the members to balance awareness of their rights with a strong sense of duty, integrity, and accountability. He motivated the members to sustain their tradition of selfless service and uphold their responsibility to the community at all times.

The NHGSA also elected a new team of office bearers for a new tenure with District Commandant Kohima Wopenthung Kikon as president to carry forward the legacy of committed leadership and dedicated service. The event underscored NHGSA’s ongoing pursuit of excellence, reaffirmed its principle of selfless service, and marked a new chapter with the appointment of its new president.
