NIELIT Kohima Celebrates Fresher’s Day with the Inauguration of New IoT and 3D Printing Lab

NIELIT Kohima celebrated Fresher’s Day with great enthusiasm, extending a warm welcome to the first-year students of Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) at its campus. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, and students, making it a memorable occasion for everyone.

The highlight of the event was the gracious presence of Sethrongkyu, Advisor, Information Technology & Communication, Economics & Statistics, Government of Nagaland, who inaugurated the Internet of Things (IoT) and 3D Printing Lab at NIELIT Kohima. The state-of-the-art lab is equipped with cutting-edge technology, providing students with a platform to explore emerging technologies and innovations, empowering them to compete on a global scale. As part of the inauguration, certificates were awarded to police participants undergoing advanced cyber forensics training at NIELIT Kohima.

The students displayed their creativity and technical prowess during the event, showcasing a variety of IoT applications they designed and built as part of their academic projects. These projects showcased the integration of cutting-edge technologies into real-world applications. Notable IoT applications presented included the Smart Parking System, Bluetooth Controlled Home Automation System, Smart Door Lock using RFID, LED Matrix using Arduino, Smart Street Light System, and Radar using Arduino, among others. Alongside the impressive IoT applications, the special guest was also treated to a glimpse of NIELIT Kohima students’ brilliance in the field of 3D printing technology.

Impressed by the students’ projects, Sethrongkyu praised their technical skills and creativity. He emphasized the significance of practical learning experiences in shaping future technocrats and contributing to the development of Nagaland’s technology landscape. Sethrongkyu pledged continuous support to enhance technical education in the field of IT and Electronics in Nagaland and encouraged students to embrace hard work and commitment as the keys to success.

In his welcome address, Er. Lanuwabang, Director of NIELIT Kohima, highlighted the diverse activities and opportunities offered by NIELIT to the state of Nagaland. He warmly welcomed the freshman students, emphasizing that they are not just joining an institute but stepping into the vast world of Information Technology, where endless opportunities for innovation and growth await. He encouraged them to explore and excel in this dynamic field, contributing to technological advancements and making a positive impact on society. The vote of thanks was delivered by Er. A Morimenba Amer, Joint Director of NIELIT, in the presence of several dignitaries, including the Additional Director I&C, Director STPI, and other officials.
