Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), has urged the Federation of Motorsports Council India (FMSCI) to nurture local talents while stating that there is no shortage of talents in Nagaland when it comes to sports.
He was speaking at the inaugural programme of the 2-day Indian National Autocross Championships (INAC) hosted by the Adventure and Motorsport Association of Mokokchung (AMAM), in collaboration with the Bangalore Motor Sports, under the aegis of FMSCI at Rempukong, Ungma, Mokokchung on 4 November 2022.
Reminding the gathering that the venue has been identified for the laying of Astroturf football ground, Longkumer stated that events such as the autocross provides a glimpse to the possibilities that will eventually unfold in the years to come.
He added an event of this magnitude is very important for the people as this place (Ungma) has been earmarked to become the sports destination in Mokokchung, he said.
President, AMAM, Moasashi Jamir expressed his hope that the event will help in fostering friendships and unity among the motorsports enthusiasts. AMAN is privileged to be the host of the INAC East Zone 2022, he said.
Jamir also thanked the INAC, Bangalore Motorsports Association and FMSCI for coming to a remote and interior place like Mokokchung.
While AMAM has organised several motorcross events in the past, this is the first national championships for the association.
Moasashi Jamir said that may have been setbacks in the organisation but assured that the organisers will learn from the experience. Further, he shared his hopes that FMSCI and INAC will continue work hand in hand with the local talents in the days to come.
Around 50 participants are taking part at the 2-day championship with seven participants joining from outside Nagaland.
