The New Ministers’ Hill Panchayat (NMHP), Ward-16, Kohima, has announced a series of proactive measures to strengthen community cooperation and improve the quality of life and safety of residents.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Panchayat stated that it has initiated several programs, including 24×7 roster duty—particularly around the Viewpoint area—regular checks on alcohol consumption, and organized cleanliness drives.
The Panchayat expressed satisfaction that, with collective community effort, public alcohol use within the colony has been “fully minimized.” However, it expressed regret that a few individuals continue to indulge in intoxication and cause disturbances, especially during midnight hours.
The Panchayat warned that stringent action would be taken against those who indulged in drunken driving, violence and other illegal activities stemming from alcohol abuse with the full extent of applicable laws.
It further cautioned that the type of vehicle and vehicle number of offenders will be made public through local dailies and social media platforms.

Highlighting the upcoming final examination period for students, the Panchayat appealed to all residents to refrain from creating disturbances within the colony. It also warned that individuals or groups failing to comply would face strict consequences. “The Panchayat shall take its own course of action against any defaulters,” it asserted.
