NMOPS calls for movement for Old Pension Scheme in Nagaland

Kohima: NMOPS said that many employees gave their consent to vote for Old Pension supporting party in upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Nagaland

A convention on New Pension Scheme was organised at CANSSEA office in Kohima on Wednesday where Dr Manjeet Singh Patel, the president of National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) and convenor Sudheer Rupji addressed the Nagaland government employees, NMOPS informed in a statement.

Patel, the guest speaker, said that it was a historic time in the history of Nagaland’s new pension scheme employees to get involved in national movement for old pension scheme. He stated that though the central government formed a committee with the members from finance ministry officers on 6 April 2023 to review NPS, there was no members from parliament or affected party members in the committee. So how can justice be done, he asked.

More than two hundred employees from various departments like PWD, Education, Tourism, etc of Nagaland government were said to have attended the convention on issues in new pension scheme.

Dr Ilang, the president of the Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees’ Association (CANSSEA) said that approximately 4000 crore rupees of NPS employees are not showing in National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and asked whether it has been deducted from 30000 employees as well as state government contribution.

NMOPS also stated that Moa and Asen had been given the responsibilities as president and general secretary to fight for old pension scheme restoration for Nagaland’s employees welfare. Further, it said that many employees gave their consent to vote for Old Pension supporting party in upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Nagaland.
