The Nagaland Medical Students’ Association (NMSA) has declared that it would continue its peaceful agitation from September 1.

Standing firmly against Notification No. HFW (A)10/34/2024/145 dated 18th August 2025 issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, which seeks to regularise 280 contractual COVID-19 appointees, the NMSA has demanded immediate revocation of the said notification and immediate requisitioning of all sanctioned posts to NPSC/NSSB, to be filled through open advertisement, written examination, and viva voce as per service rules.

The Association would gather at the Secretariat Bus Stand at 9.30 a.m. and proceed in procession towards the Department of Health & Family Welfare, where the peaceful protest would be held.

It has called upon all student bodies, civil organisations, and right-thinking citizens to join in solidarity. Organisations and groups have been requested to kindly assign a representative for a solidarity speech.

“Let us unite and demand justice not only for ourselves but for the future of fairness, merit, and equal opportunity in Nagaland. It is now or never. Let us raise our voices together against this unjust and discriminatory policy,” it said in an appeal.

Meanwhile, the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has also opposed the recent notification issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare seeking to regularize 98 contractual appointees through departmental screening, terming it “unconstitutional and arbitrary move” which undermines meritocracy and established recruitment norms.

Standing in solidarity with the Nagaland Medical Students’ Association (NMSA), CTAN called upon every federating unit to join the collective protest starting September 1 at the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima.
