A video showing a group of young girls bullying another girl, some of whom were in school uniforms, has gone viral on social media platforms on Sunday, drawing concerns and criticism from various quarters.
The Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union (CTSU) promptly issued a statement saying that the school uniform worn by the main perpetrator is believed to be from the North Town Higher Secondary School Chümoukedima.
“It has come to our attention through a video circulating on social media, that a certain number of students were found to be bullying another minor student. The act involved hair pulling and humiliating the student while also using some foul languages. The student while in uniform were found to be exerting physical violence on the other. The uniform is believed to be from North Town Higher Sec. School. While the others are yet to be identified,” the CTSU said in a press release.

The CTSU issued a stern warning to the school that the perpetrators are to be identified and their names and identity are to be brought to the union.
“There will be no leniency for this behaviour and we expect the school to prompt out the proper action against this act,” the union stated, adding that it would be keeping a close watch on this situation. It further appealed to the schools to cooperate with the union.
