No need for panic, Nagaland is well prepared if COVID-19 cases rise: Health Department assures

Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary Health & Family Welfare said that there is no panic among the citizens in Nagaland and assured that the state is well prepared to face any eventuality if the number of Covid-19 cases arises.

Informing that 3 positive Covid-19 cases has been detected in Nagaland in the last few weeks, Sema said testing is going on and under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare trial mock drills were conducted across the State where all the District hospitals and health centres participated.

Sema assured that the state is well prepared and said that not only the government hospitals, but the department also had a meeting with the Christian Institute Of Health Sciences & Research (CISHR) and the police complex.

“The Police complex is 100 bedded, CISHR has about 200 beds and we’ve had a meeting with the private doctors association on 4th of April this year, and we’ve also requested them in case of any eventuality and in most of the districts unlike 1st & 2nd wave, the ICU is ready, and we feel that there is no panic, we need not panic,” added Sema.

He appealed to the people to maintain the behavioural change and the discipline.

Further, Sema also assured that vaccinations are available and incase of shortfall the department will receive the vaccination from the common pool.

He also said, if any citizen wants to get tested then they can contact the district hospitals and the health centres available in their jurisdictions.

“So, we will urge the citizens if they want any testing to be done, they can come forward and they can contact our health institutions,” added Sema.
