Renponthung Ezung, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from 38 Wokha Assembly Constituency (AC) filed his nomination on Tuesday at Longsa village ground, accompanied by deputy chief minister Y Patton and thousands of supporters for the upcoming Nagaland state assembly election 2023.

Ezung, in his speech, exuded confidence of a comfortable victory and thanked Patton, who he said was his ‘political godfather’ for his guidance and crucial support.

Meanwhile, Patton declared that “there was no scope for an alliance, both pre and post-poll” and further stated ‘there will be absolutely no room for other parties in the next BJP-NDPP government’, while extending his unflinching support to Ezung.

Dwelling on the ticket distribution, Patton said that 38 Wokha AC is among the 20 BJP ticket holders despite receiving more than 112 ticket applicants and commented that a loss in the upcoming election would mean a wastage of the coveted BJP ticket and a huge loss for the constituency.

The deputy CM also challenged the party workers and supporters to put out an all-out effort in all areas of electioneering activities, while acknowledging the indispensable role of women in politics.

Ezung also acknowledged P Zubenthung Humtsoe for withdrawing his candidature, which has created an unprecedented wave in his favour. The prudent and selfless act of Humtsoe ‘has unified the village in particular and 38 Wokha AC voters in general’,, he added.

Meanwhile, BJP president Wokha, Subenthung Kithan also highlighted the developmental activities under PM Modi Government. He emboldened the supporters that BJP will remain in power for a long time, both in NLA and centre, and therefore appealed for confidence in the party and its leaders.

Humtsoe also spoke during the programme, wherein he conveyed his full support to Ezung. Citing past political trends of 38 Wokha AC, Humtsoe said victory was imminent for BJP as long as there was unity within the village and supporters.
