Government Middle School, Bayavü, Kohima observed World No Tobacco Day on Wednesday in the school premises with Teisovilie from State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland as the resource person.

In his address, Teisovilie shared with the students about the ill- effects of the tobacco usage which are in the form of smoking and chewing. He encouraged the students to build willpower that will fight against tobacco usage to prevent from getting into substance abuse.

Kikruneinuo Liezietsu, Head Teacher, GMS Bayavü shared the objective of the No Tobacco Day and highlighted the theme “We need food and not tobacco”.

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, the students took the pledge to never chew or smoke tobacco products and to motivate others to do the same while also to make the school campus Tobacco Free Zone.

ANTI-TOBACCO PLEDGE for teachers, students, and staffs of Educational institutions:

“(Name) pledge to never smoke or consume any type of tobacco products. Pledge to motivate, my family and friends to not smoke, or use any tobacco product. Pledge to keep my school Tobacco Free, and also pledge to motivate my colleagues and friends for the same.”
