Amid the outbreak of H1N1 Swine Flu in Dan Village, the Noklak District Surveillance Committee met today under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Arikumba at the DC Conference Hall.
During the meeting, the DC highlighted that on getting information from the Major, 14 Assam Rifles in the evening of 23rd August 2024 of a disease outbreak at Dan village, the District Administration and District Health Authority mobilized and detailed a medical team comprising of two medical officers and nurses from District Hospital, Noklak and Primary Health Centre, Pangsha and conducted a health camp at the village on 24 August 2024.

Chief Medical Officer, Noklak, Dr Victor explained to the members about HINI disease and informed that the infection at Dan Village is under control with no new infections reported and also no deaths till today. He also underscored that the affected patients have also fully recovered and assured that the Medical Department will carry out follow up actions till outbreak is over.
Dr Victor further informed that the Rapid Response Teams conducted house to house active case search at Dan and Pangsha villages and also collected 22 Nasopharyngeal swabs (NPS) samples and water samples for testing on 30th August 2024 which are under process.
He also suggested other line departments such as Veterinary and PHED departments to carry out necessary actions

Also at the meeting, the District Epidemiologist made a presentation about the IDSP-IHIP (Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme-Integrated Health Information) Platform reporting system, Community Based Surveillance and analysis of prevalent diseases in the district.
The members of the District Surveillance Committee stressed that in the event of any diseases outbreak in the district, the village authority/healthcare workers should foremost inform the District Administration and District Health Authority for necessary action. The Committee also resolved to write to the 14 Assam Rifles Hospital to include their hospital in the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) portal for surveillance in the district.
Further, the committee resolved to create social awareness at the grassroot level in all the villages regarding any infectious diseases by involving various stalk holders.
The Noklak District Surveillance Committee also decided to write an application to the Principal Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare, for allocation of emergency fund to the district for surveillance activities/outbreak investigation.
