MLA and advisor for Social Welfare Wangpang Konyak on Thursday inaugurated the District Programme Officer (DPO-ICDS) office at Noklak in the presence of deputy commissioner (DC) Noklak P Mono Khiamniungan, government officials and individuals from various organisations.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Konyak stated that with the inauguration of DPO (ICDS) office in Noklak district, the schemes which are available in the department will now be more accessible to the stakeholders. He called for the cooperation from all the stakeholders and citizens in order to implement the schemes fully in the district. He mentioned that Social Welfare department is one of the most important departments where benefit is given to all.
The MLA also assured that infrastructures will be upgraded steadily. Noklak being a few years old now, Konyak called upon the people of the district to compete with others, and further encouraged them to coordinate with the government.

DC Noklak in his short speech expressed gratitude to the department of Social Welfare for setting up the DPO (ICDS) office. He also proposed for various infrastructural development projects and the need for a children’s home, and urged upon the legislator for consideration.
Khiamniungan Tribal Council president L Ngon said that with the inauguration of CPO (ICDS) office in Noklak, the district has reached another milestone. He said that the office is not only for Noklak but for all the Nagas. He expressed hope that the office will strengthen the unemployed youths, displaced people and the community as a whole.
Deputy secretary Social Welfare, Theodore Yanthan and deputy director Social Welfare K Wango Langsym highlighted about the activities and schemes under the department.
The programme was chaired by CDPO Thonoknyu P Hemping. Dedicatory prayer for the office was pronounced by Noklak Town Baptist Church pastor A Penglang.
