A 1.6 MVA transformer at the Noklak Power Station was damaged in a fire around 9:30 p.m. on August 8. Officials from the Noklak power department confirmed that a short circuit in the Laang project line caused the incident, disrupting electricity supply across the entire district.
According to sources, repairs are expected to take two to three weeks until a replacement transformer arrives. Further updates on alternative power solutions are awaited from the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and Junior Engineer (JE), Noklak.
This marks the second time the Noklak Power House transformer has been damaged, the first incident having occurred more than a decade ago.
The power department has urged residents to remain patient and calm until the issue is resolved.
