The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of political hypocrisy, alleging double standards on issues of democracy and protest.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the NPCC said it was “deeply ironic” that the BJP, which it claimed had previously disrupted national events for political mileage, was now delivering lectures on democracy and peaceful protest. The party alleged that during the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi, the BJP and its affiliates staged protests that embarrassed the country on an international platform.
Referring to the recent controversy surrounding a “Made in India” technological showcase, the NPCC questioned the authenticity of the exhibit, alleging that a Chinese robot was presented as indigenous innovation. It stated that while concerns were being raised over the matter, the BJP was claiming moral authority and accusing others of being undemocratic.
The NPCC defended the protest carried out by the Indian Youth Congress, stating that it was aimed at demanding transparency and accountability, which it described as fundamental to democracy. It asserted that if the government truly supports the “Make in India” initiative, honesty must take precedence over propaganda.

The NPCC also criticized BJP leaders for staging what it termed “performative demonstrations” in front of the Indian National Congress Bhavan in Dimapur, alleging that slogans were raised without facts. It urged the BJP to clarify the truth behind the exhibition, stating “democracy is not about noise, it is about responsibility”.
The NPCC maintained that political double standards cannot replace truth and that the public can distinguish between genuine accountability and manufactured outrage.
