The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), informed in a press release on April 17, that the committed efforts of the Member of Parliament, S. Supongmeren Jamir, have received a positive response from the Union Minister of State for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, and Labour & Employment, Government of India, Shobha Karandlaje.

During Zero Hour discussion in the Lok Sabha, on February 11, Jamir had urged the Central Government to establish full-fledged office spaces and to depute adequate officers at the MSME-Development and Facilitation Offices (DFOs) in the North Eastern Region (NER), including Nagaland.

“In response, the Ministry has acknowledged the concern and assured that 11 Deputy Directors recently promoted to Joint Director Level would soon be posted, and recruitments for Assistant Director Grade-I and Grade-II are under process through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), with new officers expected to join by June 2025. The Ministry further stated that it is considering strengthening the MSME DFOs in the North East by deploying these promoted and newly recruited officers, to enhance the region’s MSME ecosystem,” informed the NPCC.

It also acknowledged the prompt intervention extended by the Ministry in the matter, and urged the same to follow through with the assurance in a time-bound manner so that the long-neglected MSME infrastructure in Nagaland and the North East can receive the attention and support it truly deserves.
