NPCC launches crowdfunding drive to manage election campaign amid account freeze

Kohima: Congress appeals for generous donation from those believe in preservation of free and fair playing field in electioneering process

Amid the freezing of bank accounts belonging to the Indian National Congress, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has launched a crowdfunding drive called “Donate for Congress” to manage election campaigns for its candidate S Supongmeren Jamir in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Stated that the freezing of the accounts is not just an “act of inter party political upmanship” by ruling government but an assault on the democratic rights of the common people of India, NPCC has sought for generous donations from well-wishers of the Party, and every right-thinking citizens in Nagaland “who believes in the preservation of a free and fair playing field in the electioneering process”,

It further said that besides the “financial contract aspect”, “Donate For Congress” campaign is an “invitation to the voters of Nagaland to register their protest against this wrong, and reassert the centrality of the electorates on the representational democratic processes mandated under our Constitution.”
