The Public Grievances Department (PGD) of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has demanded for the restoration of CT-SCAN and Mammogram machines at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) which has been non-functional for a year.

Receiving Information from credible sources, the PGD revealed in a statement on May 3 that the NHAK has failed to provide functioning CT-Scan and Mammogram machines for more than a year. “This failure to maintain essential medical equipment in a government-run hospital reflects poorly on the authorities responsible for promptly addressing such irregularities. NHAK, a well-established hospital serving the people of Nagalandy particularly those from rural areas who travel to Kohima for medical care, should not have nonfunctional machinery. Patients being directed to private hospitals for CT scans due to this issue highlight the financial burden faced by rural patients who expect affordable treatment at government hospitals,” stated the PGD.

The department emphasized that effective governance entailed ensuring the welfare and dignity of the public, which includes providing reliable medical facilities.

“The apparent lack of urgency in addressing this issue by the Nagaland government reflects poorly on its functionality. NHAK operating without proper CT-Scan and mammogram machines for over a year begs the question: when will the responsible authorities take action?,” questioned the PGD.

Affirming its dedication in advocating for the well-being of the people of Nagaland, irrespective of economic status, the PGD NPCC assured that it is prepared to address shortcomings where the current governments falls short.

“Therefore, we request the concerned authority to take the necessary action at the earliest. Failing which, necessary democratic action will be taken for the welfare of the people,” asserted the PGD.
