Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has refuted the recent claim made by BJP Nagaland President, stating that “thousands of Congress workers and officials” from 58 A/C Shamator Assembly Constituency have joined the BJP.
Asserting that such exaggerated claims from a high-profile leader of BJP Nagaland are misleading and unacceptable, the NPCC clarified that based on the District Congress Committee (DCC) Tuensang’s report, only 13 individuals signed in support of joining the BJP.
“However, out of these, only 11 were enrolled Congress members, while the remaining two were never registered Congress members. Among those who joined are Retired IGP (IPS) Mr. Richard Yimkhuing and his wife, Mrs. Shojila Yimkhuing, along with S. Lakhang from Yakor Village; Khiungreto and Yakso from Huker Village; Mahila and Riola from Huker Village; Thrimhokiu, Wongji, and Chelu from Huker Village B; Richard Yimto from Rürrü Village; Shojila from Sangpur Village; and Yanshu from Shamator Village A. The two individuals who were never registered Congress members are Royim and S. Kioshu, both from Chessor Village,” added the NPCC.

It further added, “BJP Nagaland’s claim of “thousands” of Congress workers switching allegiance is completely false. It is evident that the numbers have been greatly exaggerated to mislead the public and create an illusion of mass support. INC Nagaland urges BJP Nagaland to uphold political integrity and refrain from spreading misinformation.”
