The appeal from NPCC comes in the backdrop of the announcement made by the Village Guards Association of Nagaland (VGAN) to hold agitation in the form of ‘arms down’ in protest of Nagaland government not complying with the directives of the Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench to enhance their salaries and also over other grievances. The demonstration will be held from 6am to 5pm on 27 July and 28 July 2023 in the areas where they are operational – Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak and Meluri Sub-Division in Phek district.
The Village Guards, who are instrumental in securing the border with Myanmar, had cautioned that such protests will continue until its demands are fulfilled.
