The National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland unit has welcomed the historic Ungma Statement, where Naga Political Groups (NPGs), tribal hohos, and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) came together at Ungma village, Mokokchung, declaring that “unity is not beyond reach”.
In a statement issued by its Media Cell, the NPP described the development as “more than an agreement,” calling it a spark of collective awakening. “For decades, the Naga people have longed for healing and an honorable solution. What unfolded at Ungma is more than an agreement; it is the spark of a collective awakening that dialogue and reconciliation are stronger than division,” the party said.
The NPP lauded the tireless efforts of the FNR, the courage of Naga political leaders, the wisdom of the tribal hohos, and the hospitality of the Ao Senden and Ungma community, who hosted the landmark event. “Their efforts have proven that hope can be turned into action,” the statement noted.
The NPP urged every Naga to keep alive the flame of oneness “in prayer, in goodwill, and in cooperation.”
