The National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland, has expressed concern over the reported detention of two Catholic nuns and three girls in Chhattisgarh. It alleged that the recent detention was made “under false and communal charges” and condemned it as a direct violation of constitutional values and religious freedom.

The Party endorsed the appeal made by National President, NNP, Conrad K. Sangma to the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, calling for an immediate, fair, and impartial investigation into the matter and demanding that justice be served without bias.

In its statement, the NPP Nagaland has asserted its strong solidarity with the Christian minority community and condemned any attempt to harass or criminalize individuals based on their faith. It also urged authorities to ensure such incidents are not repeated and called for the “immediate withdrawal of the fabricated charges against the nuns and for a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to justice, secularism, and the protection of the social and secular fabric of the nation.”
