The National People’s Party(NPP) on June 10, distributed party ticket to 11 candidates in Kohima for the upcoming ULB elections 2024. The Ticket Distribution Ceremony was held on at the residence of MLA Dr.Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso, NPP Nagaland Working President .
NPP Nagaland Working President Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso MLA 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency in his speech highlighted the reach of the party as a national party comprising of MLAs in the other states of India. The MLA also acknowledged the Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio for including NPP in an opposition less government and giving them platform to be a part of the legislature.
Stating that NPP is not fighting for power, Dr. Ato assured that the party is here for peace and development. He also encouraged the candidates not to disheartened even if they lost as they will remain as long as the other parties are also there and said they will fight for Kohima town. With ULB coming after 20 years, he expressed enthusiasm to see many women coming in a position where they can lead the community.
“Candidates, despite different tribal or district origins, are all competing for the people’s benefit,” asserted the MLA. Citing that there might be tax collection after the election, Dr. Ato clarified that these taxes would benefit the town’s development. He, therefore, urged the citizens to cooperate if the government imposes small tax.

19-PR Hill,Jail & Supply : Medoviu Martin Suohu
3-North Block: Kekhrienyituo Sekhose

Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines, Dr. Ato emphasised on the importance of collaboration over competition and said, “When it comes to party, we are all under the abled leadership of Neiphiu Rio. He is all out for peace and development so is our party. So, inspite of fighting against parties who ever win will work with the leaders for our people.”
When asked about issuing of party tickets to candidates from Eastern Nagaland despite their abstention from electoral process, Dr Ato said that Kohima is not In’Eastern area and that the capital is for every tribe. He added the candidate was congratulated by the Khiamniungan Tribe council (KTC) indicating that they have no objection to her candidacy.
During the program, the program was blessed by Nagamese Union, CRC Pastor Michael while Arkeo Medom, Convenor ULB Election Committee 2024 pronounced the vote of thanks.
