The National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland today observed the 78th Birth Anniversary of the Founder, late PA Sangma along with the 13th Foundation Day of the party at the State Party Office, Dimapur. The programme was held on the theme “For the People, With the People.”
The programme began with Oliva Murry, State Executive Member, serving as the Chairperson. Invocation and vote of thanks were pronounced by Khehoshe Wotso, State Secretary, NPP Nagaland.
The welcome address was delivered by Rosy Yanthan, Vice President, who acknowledged the sacrifices of late PA Sangma in building the NPP and urged members to carry forward his vision of inclusive development and justice for the Northeast.
Brief history & tribute to the Founder was presented by Ranjit Singhvi, General Secretary (IPR) & Spokesperson, who recalled the inspiring leadership of late PA Sangma, from his humble beginnings to becoming one of the tallest leaders of the nation, and how his values laid the foundation for NPP as the only national party emerging from the Northeast.
Yansuthung, District President NPP Wokha, expressed his commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots presence and encouraged youth to actively engage in politics.
Zato Sumi, NPYF District President Dimapur reminded the gathering of the vital role of youth in nation-building and pledged the Youth Wing’s steadfast support to the party’s leadership and people’s aspirations.
Vice President, NPP Nagaland, K James Vizo extended greetings on behalf of the State President, A Nyamnyei Konyak, to all members across the state. He highlighted the significance of NPP in Nagaland’s political landscape and stressed the need for collective effort to take the party forward with a vision for the 2028 elections.

Remembering late PA Sangma as a statesman who championed the rights of tribal and marginalized communities and strongly advocated for the Northeast at the national level, he emphasized that NPP is not just a political party, but truly “the People’s Party” as reflected in its theme.
Vizo further urged party members, as Christian cadres, to uphold prayers for leaders and policymakers, quoting 1 Timothy 2:1-2 and Romans 13:1, reminding that authority is divinely ordained for governance and service to the people.
Meanwhile, a 10-member delegation comprising State NPYF, NPWF, and State office bearers, led by General Secretary (Adm), Chuba Jamir, attended the National NPP event at Tura, Meghalaya, and will also participate in the All-India Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Party scheduled on September 2 at Tura.
The observance concluded with a mass prayer, cake cutting ceremony, and light refreshments, marked by unity, reflection, and a renewed commitment to carry forward the vision of the late founder while working tirelessly for the people of Nagaland under the banner of the NPP.
