The National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State Unit has welcomed the appointment of Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the new Governor of Nagaland.
The NPP said while this may be a temporary arrangement following the sudden and sad demise of the late Governor La Ganesan, the appointment of Bhalla, a former Union Home Secretary with long-standing administrative experience, is viewed as a positive step for the State.
NPP noted that Bhalla, hailing from the Meghalaya cadre of IAS officers and presently serving as Governor of Manipur, is well-acquainted with the history, culture, and challenges of the Northeastern region. “His familiarity with the region reflects the recognition of the Centre towards the special needs and aspirations of the Northeast,” it stated.
The NPP said as a party born in and rooted to the Northeast, it has always emphasized the importance of experienced and regionally sensitive leadership for addressing the concerns of the people. In this regard, NPP Nagaland expressed confidence that Bhalla’s tenure will strengthen governance and bring balanced attention to the State.
