Against the backdrop of the agitation by 367 teachers of Nagaland RMSA 2016 batch, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on September 17 served a 10-day ultimatum to the state government to take all necessary and appropriate measures to ensure that due justice is delivered to the aggrieved teachers.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary on Wednesday, the federation stated that its emergency presidential council meeting held earlier during the day undertook an exhaustive deliberation on the plight of the 367 RMSA- 2016 batch of teachers.

NSF president Mteisuding in the letter stated that after thorough deliberation on the matter, the house resolved to serve an ultimatum to the state government.

“It is the considered opinion of the House that continued neglect of their grievances amounts to not only a violation of their dignity as teaching professionals but also an affront to the collective aspirations of the Naga people for quality education,” the letter said.

The federation cautioned that failing compliance within the stipulated period, the NSF, with the endorsement and support of its constituent units shall have no recourse but to publicly denounce the inaction of the state government.

Further, the letter stated that the NSF will  be compelled to initiate every democratic measure and course of agitation deemed necessary to safeguard the rights, whichever entitled, to secure the justice owed to the said teachers.

In the interim period, the NSF appealed to the Chief Secretary and all concerned authorities to refrain from issuing any notifications or administrative orders that may further aggravate the situation or compromise the dignity and rights of the teachers in question.
