In an emergency meeting of the council of Kilonsers, Tatars, Secretariat staff, army officers and party functionaries held on Thursday, the house unanimously resolved to impeach president Khango Konyak with immediate effect in the event of the failure on the part of the president to nullify the impeachment order of the Ato Kilonser.
Col (Retd) Isak Sumi, Ato Kilonser or General Secretary, was impeached on 4 January 2023 by the National Socialist Council of Nagaland/Government of People’s Republic of Nagaland-Khango Konyak Faction (NSCN/GPRN-K).
The Council, in its statement, condemned “the unconstitutional and high handed act of the President” in impeaching Sumi who is also one of the co-convenors in the Naga National Political Group’s Working Committee (NNPGs WC).
Re-affirming its “fullest support” to Sumi’s leadership, the house also condemned “the coup led by Col. Phuyeka and the life attempt made on the Hon’ble Ato Kilonser, illegal seizure of weapons deployed on Hon’ble Ato Kilonser’s Security Guards”.

The Council alleged “forceful occupation of CFSB office and arrest of its office guards and weapons” by “rogue elements” and appealed to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India (GoI) and the Chairman of Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) for the restoration of “the sanctity of the CFSB office” and to mediate the early release of its cadres.
Furthermore, the house appealed the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), GoI and the Naga people “to intervene and rescue and preserve the ongoing peace process from the evil plot of the saboteurs and anti-peace elements.”
