The NSCN/GPRN (YA) today described the alleged drone strikes in two locations in Eastern Nagaland as a “barbaric attack” and accused the India state of waging an “unjust war” against the people of the WESEA region using technologically advanced weapons. The NSCN/GPRN further alleged that India’s military campaign is driven by hegemonic and imperialist ambitions.

In a statement issued by its ‘ministry of information and public relations (MIP), the outfit claimed that on July 13, between 2:00 and 4:00 a.m., India ‘fascist’ forces carried out multiple drone strikes at two locations in Eastern Nagaland targeting the ULFA-I and NSCN/GPRN camps in Hoyat and Pangsau area.

The NSCN/GPRN expressed grief and shock at the tragic death of ULFA-I comrade, Lt Gen Nayan Asom, a staunch Wesean revolutionary leader and other senior ULFA leaders who were killed in the attack.

It described Lt Gen Nayan Asom as “most committed and finest revolutionary leaders” who had “dedicated his entire life to in pursuits of freedom for his people.”

“His unwavering commitment and selfless sacrifice will remain a source of inspiration not only for the people of Assam but for all the oppressed Wesean nations,” the statement said.

Strongly condemning the ‘atrocity’, the outfit paid homage to all the leaders and injured comrades, while also extending deepest condolences and solidarity to the ULFA-I and joined them in their grief.

The outfit claimed that in the past few months, the Government of India has intensified its brutalities on the NSCN/GPRN cadres as well, with killings and military assaults persisting unabated.

“If India thinks she can wage an unjust war through the power of her sophisticated weapons and technological advantage and maintain her hegemony over the WESEA region, she is greatly mistaken. It simply prove her weakness and imperialistic mentality and not her strength,” the statement said.

“India’s ruthless campaign and savage tactics will never break the spirit of the NSCN/GPRN nor the ULFA-I. We remain resolute in our fight against India’s oppression to the last man standing,” it said, adding, “Our struggle is based on truth and justice. Every drop of blood will continue to speak the truth and it will be a proof that brutal oppression and genocide still exist even in the 21st century”.

“Even though the price is high, we will fight and resist for our history, land, and dignity. The victory of the Wesean people is inevitable and justice will be served,” it further stated.
