The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung group) has publicly identified and denounced an individual it says has been impersonating the organisation and carrying out large-scale illegal taxation across Nagaland.

In a statement, the outfit named Ethomo Rengma of Tesophenyu village (Tseminyu district) as the person allegedly operating under a false identity, claiming to be a Kilonser and Western Finance in-charge of NSCN/GPRN (YA).

It alleged that for the last two years, Ethomo had fraudulently collected crores of rupees from Nagaland government departments, business establishments and construction companies through his pseudo identity and fake letter heads.

The NSCN/GPRN (YA) categorically denied any affiliation with Ethomo Rengma, saying it never authorised anyone to collect taxes on its behalf and reiterating that “all taxation pertaining to Nagaland state is handled directly by the Central finance committee.”

Stating that it has never employed a fraudster and corrupt individuals like Ethomo Rengma, the outfit said, “We have closely noted all his illegal activities and had given him a choice either to stop it or face his destruction,” adding, “He had chosen unwisely which is a dangerous path towards his own peril. If he deliberately chose to remain a thorn on our path we will be left with no choice but to initiate a capital punishment.”

The outfit urged all stakeholders and appealed to them to be aware of such fraudsters or unauthorized person(s) on any financial matter related to NSCN/GPRN or they would be doing so at their own risk.

It also appealed to the Rengma Hoho and the Tesophenyu village authority to act against the accused and to reprimand him of his illegal activities, “for we don’t want bloodshed”.

It gave a final warning to Ethomo Rengma to immediately cease all his dirty activities or “there would be no more mercy.”
