NSCN-IM condemns Ukhrul PNB bank heist

The National Socialist Council of Nagalim(NSCN) has condemned the recently bank robbery at Punjab National Bank(PNB), Ukhrul where Rs. 18.85 crore was looted from the bank.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN/GPRN expressed shocked to learn of the bank robbery by unidentified criminal elements wearing masks and carrying dangerous weapons.

“The feeling of shock, anger and helplessness we understand. It is bound to have negative impact on the socio-economic health of Ukhrul District. The dastardly crime we condemn in the strongest words. Every possible angle should be studied to identify the perpetrators and justice be meted out,” stated the MIP.

In one of the biggest heist in Manipur, Rs. 18.85 crore was looted from a Punjab National Bank on November 30 at the heart of Ukhrul town.

According to Ukrhul Times, the PNB situated in Viewland-I, one of the main bazaars of Ukhrul town was looted at around 5:40 pm on Thursday by around ten unidentified masked men carrying sophisticated weapons. Around eight personnel from the 6th Manipur Rifles were mending the PNB bank, mentioned the news agency. The Punjab National Bank was formerly known as United Bank of India and was converted to PNB recently.
