The NSCN/GPRN (YA) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a construction team of the Assam Rifles along the Namgoi–Pangsau road on Thursday evening, alleging that the action was carried out in protest against the construction of a border fence.

In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the group claimed that its “Naga Army tactical unit” launched the attack around 5:30 p.m., resulting in the death of three personnel on the spot. However, there was no immediate official confirmation from security agencies regarding the casualties.

The group alleged that the ongoing fencing project along what it termed an “artificial boundary” has been strongly opposed by Nagas on both sides, and described the construction as unlawful. It further accused the Government of India of continuing the work despite protests, terming it a violation of international and humanitarian principles.

The statement warned that such developments could escalate tensions in the region and reiterated its opposition to the fencing project. It also asserted that it would continue to resist any measures it perceives as infringing on Naga rights and territory.
