Nginyeih Konyak, Chairperson of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) lauded the first elected women legislators Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister of Horticulture and Women Resources Development, and Hekani Jakhalu Kense, MLA & Advisor, Industries and Commerce for speaking on the most crucial topic of gender equity, women empowerment and 33% reservation on Urban Local body (ULB) in the August House of the 14 Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Commending the women who broke the glass ceiling by becoming members to the 60-Nagaland Assembly, Konyak stated that the speeches of the women legislators served as beacon of hope and inspiration in a world where gender disparities remain to be the unfinished business. “Your eloquence, passion and dedication to this cause left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to witness this historic moment where Naga women legislators made their entry and their voices heard for the first time,” stated the NSCW chairperson.

She further maintained that the presence of women on the floor of the 14 Nagaland Legislative Assembly itself testify that bipartisan support for gender equity is not only necessary but achievable.
“Naga women will continue to look upon you for inspiration and to be our voices even in the coming days,” added Konyak on behalf of the NSCW.
