The Nagaland State Dental Council (NSDC) held its quarterly meeting on February 7 last at Hotel Acacia Dimapur, where newly appointed Office Bearers of the Council were also inducted. The meeting was attended by both outgoing and incoming members making a smooth transition in leadership and continuity in the Council’s function.
The new team of NSDC for the next tenure are: Dr Reyosalu Lase (Additional Director Dental)—Chairperson; Dr I Arenla Walling (Director Dental)– Department Representative; Dr Meribeni Odyuo ( Retired Director Dental), Dr Chiekroshuyi Tetseo ( Retired Director Dental), Dr N Moangangba Jamir ( Joint Director Dental), and Dr. Nzanthung Humtsoe (Private Practitioner)– Members from State Dental Registers; Dr Pfukrolo Koza and Dr Aoyanger Imchen– Senior Dentists; Dr Arihant Jain and Dr Naomi Rio Zhimomi– Senior Private Practitioners; Dr Neingutunuo Angami and Dr Esther Chophy– State Government Nominee.
Dr Imtiwabang Pongene has been appointed as Registrar, Dr Neichukholie Vupru as Deputy Registrar and Dr I. Simon Sumi( Deputy Director Dental) as Secretary.
Earlier, the meeting was called to order by outgoing President, Dr H Hotokhu Chishi (Retired Director Dental). Invocation was pronounced by Dr Chiekroshuyi Tetseo (Retired Director Dental & Past Representative, Dental Council of India). This was followed by the presentation of reports of different Committees.

Induction of the new team and handing over of responsibilities was conducted by Dr Meribeni Odyuo (Retired Director Dental & Member Nominating Committee NSDC). Speeches were given by outgoing President, NSDC, Dr H Hotokhu Chishi and Incumbent Chairperson NSDC, Dr Reyosalu Lase (Additional Director Dental).
In his address, Dr Chishi emphasized on the urgent need for early framing of the State Dental Council Rules to ensure smoother administration, effective regularization and improved function of the Council in the interest of the Dental Professionals and Public Oral Health in Nagaland.
The business session was presided over by Dr Imtiwabang Pongener Registrar NSDC. During the session routine quarterly matters concerning the function of the Council were reviewed, including Registration of all Dental Clinics, Administrative issues and measures aimed at strengthening of Dental Services in the State.
Vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr Neichukholie Vupru Deputy Registrar, NSDC.
