The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has issued a weather advisory forecasting widespread rainfall across all districts of the state from July 1 to July 8, 2025. These showers are likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, raising concerns over public safety and potential disruptions.
According to the NSDMA, heavy rainfall is expected in most districts from July 2 to July 6, with very heavy rainfall predicted for Kiphire and Tuensang on July 2 and 3. In light of this, the authority has urged citizens to take necessary precautions, including staying indoors during storms, avoiding high wind areas, and staying alert to the risk of lightning strikes.

Stating that transport and road communication may be adversely affected during this period, the NSDMA has also flagged the possibility of waterlogging and flash floods in lowland and foothill areas, particularly in Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli, due to high precipitation levels in the hill sectors.
In view of these potential hazards, the NSDMA has urged the public to exercise caution and take preventive measures to avoid any eventualities. Additionally, District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and line departments have been asked to remain on high alert and ensure preparedness to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
