The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of unstable weather conditions across several districts of the state between March 13 and March 16, 2026.
In an update released by the authority, localized thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall are expected in many parts of Nagaland during the period from March 13 to March 15. Districts likely to experience such conditions include Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha district, Mokokchung district, Longleng district, Mon district, Zunheboto district, Tuensang district, Peren district and Phek district.
The authority also stated that isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few locations, particularly in Longleng, Mokokchung and Wokha districts around March 13 and 14. During the same period, intermittent light to moderate rainfall may also affect districts such as Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang, Peren and Noklak district.
According to an advisory issued by Joint Chief Executive Officer of NSDMA, Johnny Ruangmei, the overall weather pattern during the period is expected to remain unstable, with scattered thunderstorms, lightning activity and intermittent rainfall occurring across different parts of the state. In some areas, localized heavy rainfall may also be experienced.

In view of the forecast, the NSDMA under the Home Department has urged the public to exercise caution and remain vigilant to avoid any untoward incidents during the period of inclement weather. Residents have been advised to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions, especially during thunderstorms and lightning activity.
The authority has also requested all District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert and take necessary preparedness measures to safeguard lives and property.
